Employment from Home – What are the advantages and disadvantages?
If you are looking for employment from home, there are some things that you will want to consider first. In what follows, I will provide you with the advantages and disadvantages of working from home.First, we’ll talk about the disadvantages, and then we’ll save the best (advantages) for last!
- it can be difficult to separate work and home life
- it can be difficult to discipline yourself to work when you don’t have a boss watching over you
- income level can fluctuate from month to month, and is not predictable like job income.
- you have to pay for your materials, upgrading, learning, etc. with your own money
Now, the advantages are:
- you have a flexible schedule that meets your family’s needs
- you can work when you want to, not when the boss tells you to
- you have the opportunity to increase your income more significantly and don’t have to wait for raises from a boss
- you can write off reasonable expenses needed to operate your business from home. The expenses you can write off will depend on what type of employment from home you do, but here are some examples: a portion of your home, utilities, vehicles and fuel, computer, printer ink, stationary, travel, and education expenses. Just make sure to keep all your receipts for tax time.
- you have no boss. You may have clients that you are responsible to, but you are still your own boss.
Off the top of my head, those are the main advantages and disadvantages I can think of. If you can think of more, please send me a comment. Watch more posts that will provide you with ideas for employment from home, as well as ways to market yourself when you work out of your home.
